International Women's Day and a Terrible bread Accident

March 8, 2026

Saturday 8th of March

Hello beautiful people.

Today is International Women's Day. With every year that goes by, and the older I get, I find it more and more important and beautiful that we mark this day. I'm so thankful for all the female songwriters who came before me and stood their ground. I am so inspired by all the amazing female songwriters out there today. One of many is Amy Allen. In 2025, Amy Allen became the first ever woman to win Songwriter of the Year at the Grammys!!

Today's song recommendation: (all songs written by women!)

I'm Just a Girl – No Doubt (word)

Landslide - Fleetwood Mac, written by Stevie Nicks (always a masterpiece, just wow)

Independence Day - Ani DiFranco (my go-to heartbreak song heh)

To love me - Amy Allen (the lyricssss!)

From time to time I take these impulsive trips to my grandparents. It often happens when I feel overwhelmed and just need to get away. They live in a very small town four hours away from Oslo. Their house is by the sea and the town is always quiet. I feel like I can finally breathe when I get there.

I feel like a little kid again every time I go stay with my grandparents. My grandma always rubs my feet and my grandpa always makes the best meals. I only stayed there for two days before I had to go back to Oslo.

On the way back my grandma packed lunch for me to have on the bus ride home. It was two slices of bread with butter and cheese. This is where it gets scary… so keep reading.

My first bite of the bread was great. It was homemade bread, so it almost melted on my tongue. I swallowed my first bite and headed for the next one. I took my second bite. I could feel the bread and butter dancing around in my mouth. Yum, it was lovely.

But then suddenly there was something sharp. First I thought it was a seed coming from the bread. I kept chewing, but this "seed" was too hard to chew. The more the bread, butter and cheese dissolved in my mouth, I knew that this wasn't a seed. I pulled the sharp thing out of my mouth. And there it was.

Glass.

I was so scared. What if I had swallowed it? What if I had already swallowed glass and had more in my stomach? The rest of the day I felt as though I had glass in my legs and in my stomach. I even felt a sharp sensation in my chest and thought it might have somehow reached my heart.

I'm totally fine now, but I'm definitely going to be scared the next time I feel something sharp in my bread.
